The Gospel for today can truly be summarized with one word: Decency. This Gospel shares the commandments. Although the commandments were given to us a very long time ago, each one remains true in this current day. We are asked to be decent human beings. Not only in our youth but through out our lives so that we may inherit eternal life with God. None of us are perfect in anyway, that is why I am using the word decent to summarize this Gospel. If we try our best to follow the commandments and the beatitudes we can honestly and whole heartedly go to St. Peter at the Pearly gates and ask to be welcomed into heaven.
The phrase that caught my attention is:
"For human beings it is impossible, but not for God."
Why did this line catch my attention? Jesus knows that not even his disciples are perfect and what more for us regular people who follow him 2000 years later. So when he says this line it is to help us to be humble and to encourage us to live with decency.
