In today’s gospel, we are reminded of the resurrection of Jesus Chris, His only begotten son. Through this sacrifice, we learn that this season truly signifies the gift of eternal life. God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. In addition to this celebration of rebirth, we celebrate Palm Sunday. Palm Sunday embalms the grand entrance of Christ.
A verse that stands out to me the most when I think of the resurrection of Jesus Christ is Colossians 3:12.
“God has chosen you and made you his holy people. He loves you.”
This verse to me perfectly describes God’s eternal love. He chose and sacrificed His only Son to restore us in Him. To know that what we have and what we are being given has been chosen simply for ourselves proves that Jesus has been walking with us from the beginning. His rebirth is a symbol of restoration for our flaws and shortcomings.
Being a young adult in the church community, I tend to come across times where I feel like I am not enough. It can be a challenge for me to remember that I am wonderfully made, but entering the season of Lent I am reminded that I should be more grateful for the things that God has blessed me with. It takes a lot of intention to understand that what I have is more important than what I’m missing. Focusing on my gifts rather than my losses has allowed me to settle my mind on the right things. Gratitude has helped me renew my mind and transform the way that I see my circumstances. In other words, gratitude is a window that I use to see the world when I feel like I’ve been walking without purpose.
With that being said, there will be times when we feel stuck in the same old life full of the same old struggles, but amongst it all there is something good. Something hopeful and praiseworthy like the rebirth of Jesus Christ. Gratitude transforms forever.
