Our Confirmation candidates share their prayer inspired by the Gospel Reading for March 27, 2022, the Fourth Sunday of Lent. We will use the Cycle A readings at Youth Mass this Sunday as our catechumen undergoes the scrutinies in preparation to receive the sacraments of initiation on Holy Saturday.
Includes video and audio of our students and teachers plus additional video footage from The Chosen.
To Our Healer,
Open my ears, Lord
Help me to hear Your voice
Open my ears, Lord
Help me to hear
We open our ears to hear You and all the good you offer to us. We want to hear Your voice like Jesus heard Your voice. It is revealed that with Your voice comes light, and with light comes every kind of goodness and righteousness and truth which are things we all hope to bear as people who want to be healed from the darkness of sin.
“Neither he nor his parents sinned; it is so that the works of God might be made visible through him. We have to do the work of the one who sent me.”
Open my eyes, Lord
Help me to see
Open my eyes, Lord
Help me to see Your face
We open our eyes to see You and all the light you offer to us. We recognize that this man was not just a blind beggar character who needs to be graced with a miracle, but he is someone who is a miracle of Your grace that we get to be witness to. We hope to also have our eyes granted with the light of life so that we may continue to see Your face visible in moments where our eyes only saw darkness.
“While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”
Open my heart, Lord
Help me to be light like You
Open my heart, Lord
Help me to love
We open our hearts to see Your light and all the love you offer to us. As these men's eyes are transformed we are in wonder and awe of Your abilities to let your love be shown. Transform our hearts so that we may only be focused on Your light and distance us from those who were quick to judge like the Pharisees when they questioned the man and You. May we continue you to know You and love like You, and may we continue to see Your brightness in others as well as the world around us.
