Faith and Racial Equity: Exploring Power & Privilege
St. Anne Catholic Church, together with All Saints Catholic Church, will be presenting a program with them called Faith and Racial Equity: Exploring Power & Privilege this spring.
Presented through the lens of the Christian tradition, Faith & Racial Equity is an eight-session program that awakens individuals and groups to racial injustices within our systems and structures that empower some and oppress others. During the program, participants in a small group pray together, read books and watch videos, and have conversations around how we can seek racial justice in our community.
The program will begin with an in-person retreat on Saturday, March 16 from 9 am to 12 pm. Then on Tuesday, April 2nd, we’ll be meeting weekly over Zoom from 7 to 8:30 p.m. We’ll meet for a total of 8 weeks until May 21.
If you have a calling to explore issues related to race and racial justice, You are invited to participate in this program. You may also contact Valerie Alipio Jocson via email at stanneracialjustice@gmail.com or call (510)556-0575.
Stations of the Cross: Overcoming Racism
This Friday, March 8 at 7:00 pm, we will pray a special stations of the Cross, called Stations of the Cross: Overcoming Racism which includes prayers and reflections related to racial justice. It is a community-led prayer that will be led by parishioners from both St. Anne’s and All Saints. Please join us for this special prayer.
On Saturday, March 9, St. Anne will be reaching out to our unhoused sisters and brothers by providing warm meals and supplies. We invite you to consider donating your time, talent or treasure to this effort. We are in need of monetary donations to purchase warm meals. In addition, please consider donating the following items to be distributed: canned, ready to eat foods, body wipes, hand warmers, new socks.
We are also in need of volunteers to help assemble distribution bags prior to March 9 and volunteers on the day of the luncheon to help with distribution.
Kindly drop off monetary and in-kind donations with reference to “outreach luncheon” to the parish office. If you are interested in volunteering your time to this effort in any way or have any questions, please contact Ann Yap-Jequinto or Valerie Alipio Jocson at saintanneoutreach@gmail.com.
