In this Sunday’s gospel reading, Jesus is teaching his disciples that serving others is the greatest thing to do. Jesus tells them that “Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.” This sentence means, just because you are 1st in line doesn’t mean you are more important that the last person in line.
What this line means is that you will not get the same satisfaction of say, winning a gold medal and serving at dinning hall for the homeless. Yes, you got a gold medal, but how does it help you? Serving food to the less fortunate and seeing a smile on their face goes a long way. That feeling of helping someone and putting a smile. The medal will just sit in a box in a cabinet.
So, remember serve other’s first before you and the goodness will be with you for many years.
