My name is Sheila, and many know me as “She” or “mamma She”. I started in youth ministry in 1994 – and although it’s not a full-time paying job, it is a labor of love and a source of immense fulfillment for me.
I am going into my fourth teaching confirmation at Saint Anne, and I am incredibly grateful and blessed to be a parish and confirmation staff family member.
When I’m not at church, you can find me a few different places. Either, I am at home in San Ramon with my one remaining child, Danilo, still at home in his Senior year of high school at Archbishop Riordan High School in San Francisco. Portia, 19, is a student at HSU pursuing a psychology degree. Jordan, 24, is at UCSB and will graduate next year. Brendan, 27, works in Seattle has finished with his BS in Physics and Masters in in Data Sciences. Last, but not least, Randy, my adopted son is a Product Manager for Upper deck where he is able to combine his passion with his livelihood.
When I am not at home in San Francisco where my employer, Autodesk, has an office. I love the location at One market – close to Bart and AMAZING view of the bay bridge and ferry building. On occasion I’ve been spotted working out at the gym and/or practicing yoga - which helps to keep me centered and balanced – physically, emotionally and mentally. Finally, when I’m not at church, home or work, or gym, I’m probably hanging out with family and friends.
The gifts of teaching is immeasurable. The gift of teaching our Catholic Faith is priceless. With each year, each class, each student, I feel a little wiser and a lot closer to God. It’s an honor and privilege to work with the youth of Saint Anne’s. NAMASTE and God Bless!
Hello Everyone, My name is Jerico Abanico. I have been teaching confirmation at Saint Anne since 2013. Before joining the confirmation staff, I was in Emmaus Peer Ministry and taught both 6th and 7th grade CCD. I am also one of the co-directors for the Saint Anne Youth Choir.
I received my BA in Human Development with a concentration on Adolescent Development at CSU East Bay and I currently work at Moreau Catholic High School in Hayward. I am a current graduate student at the University of San Francisco working on my Masters in Teaching with a Single Subject Teaching Credential.
When I am not at work or at Saint Anne’s, you can find me on a volleyball court coaching. I have been coaching volleyball for a little over 10 years now. I attempt to play when my body allows me to (my age is catching up to me).
I’m excited to learn from all the students coming into confirmation this year. I’m looking forward to sharing our stories and to journey together! This year is going to be an interesting and challenging one for all of us, but we’ll get through this together! Peace, love and blessings.
